A CHEMICAL leak at Lymm Services closed the motorway station for more than seven hours last night, Wednesday.
At around 10.30pm, six fire engines were called to the BP service station to a report of a tanker that was leaking sulphuric acid.
An environmental protection unit and a command support unit also attended the hazardous materials incident.
Crews used an environmental pack and chemical booms at the scene and were in attendance for seven hours and 35 minutes.
There was no access to the services for HGVs and drivers were told to use other facilities and not to exit at junction 20.
At 6.30am this morning, Thursday, the incident concluded and normal operations at the service site resumed.
