MARLEY Nicholls' mum has urged rugby fans who are going to today's Six Nations match to sign up for the bone marrow register and potentially save her son's life.

Marley, from Bettws, Newport, has a rare blood condition called aplastic anaemia, and is still searching for a life-saving bone marrow donor despite months of appeals.

Since the Marrow For Marley campaign was started in the autumn last year, tens of thousands of people have signed up to the bone marrow register, but a match is yet to be found.

And the campaign group will hold a swab meet at the Principality Stadium today (Saturday), where Wales play England.

The group is asking anyone who hasn't yet signed up to pop along to the meeting, find out a bit more about Marley's story, and join the bone marrow donors' register by taking a quick-and-simple mouth swab.

Marley's mum, Shaney Truman, said the family were at a critical point because no donor had yet been found. Since being diagnosed, Marley has undergone multiple blood transfusions.

"We have a few appointments in the next few weeks to make a plan," she said. "Marley is OK – he's recently had more blood and platelet transfusions.

"I'm still not giving up hope but need people to keep registering."

Anyone aged between 17 and 55 can sign up for the DKMS register of donors, and those aged 16-30 can sign up for the Anthony Nolan register.

The Marrow For Marley stand will be located in Level 4 of the Principality Stadium, opposite Block M10.
