YOUNG eco warriors have launched an appeal for help to display their recently awarded Green Flag.

The tots at Larkfield Children's Centre were jumping for joy when they received the prestigious environmental accolade.

But they need a flagpole to show off their new flag and are asking the community to help.

Alison Carson, who is an early years education and childcare officer, said: "The children have been working towards their green flag for the past two years so they are excited to finally have it.

"We would like to ask if anyone would be able to help towards getting a flagpole to proudly display our green flag at the centre."

Alison says the children worked tirelessly over the past few years to win the coveted award.

She added: "All the staff, children and parents have been working so hard towards gaining the green flag.

"We have been litter-picking outside local care homes, we took part in an eco-themed sing-a-long and we have been growing a variety of fruit and vegetables which the children are looking forward to tasting when they are ready.

"We have also been learning about Fairtrade fortnight.

"The children will be selling products they have made and exploring Fairtrade materials."
