A QUALITY cast are bringing the delightful tales of Dr Seuss to the stage in Inverclyde.

Prominence Academy of Performing Arts are taking on their biggest production yet with Seussical the Musical.

In a powerful show every member of the academy is involved in the heartwarming stories created by the legendary writer and cartoonist.

Lynette Beaton, a music teacher who set up the academy with her best friend Lauren Mortimer, a drama graduate, said: "We set up five years ago so this was an important show.

"We wanted to bring everyone together using the quote from Dr Seuss himself, 'why fit in when you were born to stand out?'.

"We love Dr Seuss and his work, it is so close to our hearts and something we have always wanted to do.

"Seussical is a story with so many powerful and positive messages."

Prominence Academy has gone from strength to strength since being established by friends Lynette and Lauren.

They are busy rehearsing for Seussical, which is on for three nights in a row next week.

Lynette, who works as a secondary school teacher and also runs a music class for babies, is hoping for full houses.

She added: "There is so much talent in Inverclyde and we want to give all young people the chance to get on stage.

"We wanted to bring all our junior and senior members together and even some of our pre school class are involved this time

"Get a ticket and come along - I promise you will go away with the music in your head for the rest of the week.

"It is terrific."

Lynette has thanked all the parents for their support as well as assistant Erin McKenna, who is also a senior member of the academy.

Seussical the Musical is on in the Port Glasgow Town Hall on 13, 14 and 15 March from 7.30pm, tickets cost £13/£11.
