EMERGENCY services rushed to the scene of a car crash on the A8 in Port Glasgow.

The main road accident happened on the eastbound carriageway at around 2.30pm yesterday.

The vehicle involved went out of control and struck a lamp-post but fortunately no one was seriously injured.

Sergeant Laura Stewart of Greenock police said: “We received a report of a one vehicle road traffic collision near to Kelburn Business Park.

“Everybody managed to get out of the car and an ambulance was on the scene.

“It appears that there were minor injuries.

“The road was closed for a short time.

“It appears that the vehicle crashed into a lamp-post, so Scotland Transerv were also called out to check that.”
