A NURSE says she is frightened to go to work at night in case she comes home to a flooded flat.

Kirsty MacKenzie, of Pine Street, says whenever it rains the water runs down the walls of her two kitchen cupboards.

The problem has been going on since July but she says complaints to factors River Clyde Homes have been futile.

Kirsty said: "This has been going on for months and I'm just fed up.

"This is my first flat and it's taken the shine off it.

"I was sitting celebrating moving in and I heard a drip, drip, drip.

"They carried out a temporary emergency repair but since then I have been fobbed off and I am now at 'stage two' in my complaint.

"I received a letter saying they would be out in October to carry out guttering works and while doing this will repair the roof.

"I saw scaffolding going up but the roof wasn't repaired.

"I've been phoning once or twice a week to find out what is happening."

One of the walk-in cupboards affected contains the boiler and Kirsty has to keep a bucket there to catch the water.

The 34-year-old says she is worried going to work when it is raining.

She said: "I'm working night shift and I don't know what I'm coming home to.

"The leak seems to be moving towards the boiler."

Kirsty has insisted on putting everything in writing to RCH as a documented record and is now poised to take the case to a tribunal.

Kirsty said: "I don't trust them.

"It's the sheer length of time it has taken."

She was initially told someone would be out to look at the roof on December 7 weather permitting and work would start on the Monday.

The workmen came out on the Monday and Kirsty said they spent around 15 minutes at the building but didn't go up the communal loft to investigate and nothing has been done since.

Kirsty said: "I just want it done. I am quite happy to pay my share. Four of these properties are bought.

"I think they hoped I would get it done myself but River Clyde Homes is the factor."

When the Tele contacted bosses at RCH they stated that they plan to start work on the building soon.

Richard Orr, senior project manager, said: “The repairs at this property have been assessed and instructed and we are awaiting confirmation of a date for the works to begin.”
