MOTORISTS are breathing a sigh of relief after a main artery through Greenock finally reopened.
Baker Street has been closed for months while a major road realignment project was carried out.
The work has removed the sharp bend with Drumfrochar Road and is part of a £3m regeneration of the area.
Riverside Inverclyde plans to establish a food and drink sector hub on the adjacent land which has been cleared by demolition teams.
The road closure caused significant traffic flow problems, especially at peak-times, with the congestion compounded when work was being carried out at other key points on the local road network at the same time.
With the project now complete traffic is flowing much more freely.
