THE Tele has launched a search for find Inverclyde's 'Mum in a Million'.

In the run up to Mother's Day we are looking for our readers to nominate their own special mum and tell us why she deserves to win our luxury set of treats.

We have teamed up with our sponsors to deliver a Tontine Hotel luxury afternoon tea, delicious treats from the New Chocolate Company and a bouquet from Joseph Harley Florists while beauty salon Be Reem in Auchmead Road is offering a Vita Liberata spray tan and a Shellac manicure.

Backing our special search is Inverclyde's recently appointed first-ever women's champion Councillor Lynne Quinn.

Mum-of-three Lynne, from Gourock, who aims to highlight and champion local women, said: "This is a fantastic competition.

"I think we all have mums in a million and we need to celebrate them.

"We all know mums out there who are juggling everything, a job and a family, making it all work.

"But it is the small things that they do that keep the family together that matters the most.

"It is the determination they have.

"My own mum Annabella is always there when I need her, when the kids are sick on the wrong days!"

Lynne herself is a super-busy mum, representing her constituents while also raising Megan, 15, Matthew, 12, and Laura ,10, along with her husband Colin.

She worked full-time in financial services until her youngest Laura was born.

It was while raising her children than she became increasingly involved in voluntary and community work, sitting on the community council and then taking the plunge to run for election.

She added: "When I gave up work I needed to do other things.

"I set up Inverclyde Happy Tots and started to get involved more in my own community."

Now Lynne, 46, is one of only three female councillors, sitting as an independent and helping improve her own town.

She added: "It was a big decision and I sat the kids down before making it as it was going to affect them as well.

"I couldn't do it without their support and my husband Colin, it would be impossible.

"But for me it is important to be a role model to my daughters and my son."
