PUPILS at Gourock Primary came up with their own inventions after being inspired by the work of James Watt.
The primary three pupils visited Gourock Library to take part in a Watt’s It All About? workshop led by branch supervisor Helen Imponenti.
It was held to celebrate the legacy of Greenock's most famous son.
Helen said: “I always look forward to seeing the pupils and I can’t wait to see the inventions they come up with.”
Helen gave the pupils some background on Watt's life before reading them a story about a young girl who dreams of becoming an inventor.
With all they had learned and read in mind the pupils set about drawing their own inventions - which included a money machine and a pancake maker.
Teacher Carol McArthur said: “Events like this are great - they give the pupils the chance to learn outside of the classroom.
“It’s brilliant that it is at the library because the pupils are listening and learning not only about James Watt but also about the library itself and how it works.
“The pupils all loved it.
“Some of the inventions the kids came up with were, I’d definitely buy some.”
The workshops are one of a number of events being held in Inverclyde this year to mark the 200th anniversary of Watt’s death.
