POLICE are hunting a 'hit and run' driver who smashed into a car with two people and a baby inside.
Emergency services raced to Drumfrochar Road shortly before 3pm on Thursday after the two-vehicle smash.
Police say a blue Volkswagen Passat hit an Audi car and then fled the scene.
Sergeant Laura Stewart, of Greenock police, said: "We were called to a two-car RTA, one car a blue Passat, went into the back of an Audi and then made off.
"Two adults and a baby were passengers within the Audi but we have no note of any injuries."
An eyewitness said two ambulances, a police car and van were still at the scene at 4pm.
She said: "It happened across from the car wash, we were there after 3pm and there were police and an ambulance and traffic was being diverted from Mearns Street.
"People from business above Drumfrochar Road had come out and were standing up on the hill trying to find out what was going on.
"There were two major incident ambulances, a police car and van still there at 4pm.
"It looked as if a woman was being treated in the police van."
Sergeant Laura Stewart said: "Inquiries are ongoing to trace the driver."
