HOSPICE staff are singing the praises of a choir group who selected the Greenock charity to receive fundraising cash for two years.

Members of Inverclyde Voices overwhelmingly chose Ardgowan Hospice as their designated good cause for the next 24 months.

Some of the 100-strong group of singers joined staff nurse Amy Brown and student nurse Sarah Brown.

Ann-Marie Fry, marketing and communications officer for the hospice, said: "We're absolutely delighted.

"To have over 100 members and to be chosen by them is fantastic. "It's really good for us that they will raise vital funds for the hospice over a period of two years and to do that through song is great. "We're thrilled - and they even wore our corporate colours."

The hospice was chosen following a vote of Inverclyde Voices members.

Palma Allan, conductor and musical director, said: "We sang with another choir last year and what they did was earmarked a charity for two years to support and the committee thought that was a great idea. "Members chose their top three charities and Ardgowan Hospice came out overwhelmingly on top. "It's the first time we've had a designated charity and it's great that it's the hospice because it's local and one that impacts somebody in one way or another."

Inverclyde Voices has been going strong for 14 years and they rehearse every Monday night.

As well as a few concerts throughout the year and performing at other social events, the ladies are looking to take on more gigs to help the hospice as much as possible.

Treasurer Carol Ann Tracey said: "We're hoping to do smaller things as well because the concerts are major events.

"Anything that makes money."
