DETECTIVES have arrived at the Greenock property where a man was found dead this morning.

Emergency services were called out to a property in Nelson Street just before 6am after receiving reports of a man seriously injured.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene and the investigation into the cause is now stepping up.

Police are treating the death as unexplained and enquiries are continuing as a heavy presence arrives at the flat.

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: “At 5.45am this morning, officers were called to a report of a man found seriously injured within a property in Nelson Street, Greenock.

“Emergency services attended and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

“A post mortem examination will take place in due course to establish the cause of death which officers are treating as unexplained.

“Enquiries are at an early stage and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.”
