PARENTS, pupils, staff and visitors raised more than £1,000 for Whinhill Primary at the school's spring fete.

The event, organised by the parent-teacher association, saw more than 100 people visit throughout the day to browse the stalls, test their luck with some fun and games and enjoy some sweet treats.

An Easter egg hunt, raffles, face painting, basketball, hook a duck, and a visit from the fire brigade kept everyone well entertained.

Those attending were able to tuck into popcorn, pancakes and hot dogs while enjoying the day's festivities.

The huge sum raised will be put into school funds and used to purchase resources, fund trips and cover the cost of school discos.

A further £100 was raised for Ardgowan Hospice by PTA chair Barry McClafferty, through the sale of a collection of Harry Potter statues.

Pam Bradley, acting principal teacher, said: “It was a beautiful morning and everyone was full of smiles.

“We think this event was busier than previous ones, maybe because of the lovely weather.

“Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.

"It is a chance for staff, parents and pupils to get together and it is always really well supported.

“The primary seven pupils helped to run the stalls and the staff and parents made sure it was a success.

“It was a great day enjoyed by all.”
