James Reid was being taken to Greenock police office.
A MAN was taken to hospital after being hit by a bottle or similar item in Greenock town centre yesterday.
The 39-year-old was the victim of an alleged serious assault at 3pm in a close in Cathcart Street and taken to Inverclyde Royal.
A 48-year-old woman was arrested and she is due to appear at Greenock Sheriff Court today.
