A TENNIS camp at in Greenock has proved a smash hit with youngsters during their Easter break.

There was expert coaching on hand at Ardgowan Tennis Club as aspiring Andy Murrays perfected their passes.

The fun sessions were also a chance to make new friends during the holidays.

Chris Jewell from Ardgowan Tennis Club said:"It is great to see so many youngsters out at these camps.

"They have been running around and learning basic tennis skills like eye-hand co-ordination and some strokes, while at the same time these camps are fun.

"Tennis participation is on the up.

"Look out for some new activities at both local clubs which the Judy Murray Foundation is bringing to Inverclyde as part of their three-year project to train up lots of people - mums and dads as well as coaches - to be able to offer more coaching and competitions in the days to come.’"

The camp has moved to Fort Matilda Tennis Club for the second week of the holidays.

The classes run Monday to Friday from 9am to noon for five to eight-year-olds and those aged nine to 16 can enjoy a full day's action from 9am to 3pm.

If anyone wants to book a session they should contact Stephanie Swan on 07414221022 or email stephanieswan2018@hotmail.com

Annual membership for youngsters at either club is only £30 a year and can be signed up for through head coach Stephanie.
