PLANS for a new burger bar in Gourock look to be off the menu.
Nearly two years ago, the Tele reported how bosses of BRGR - a chain with restaurants in Glasgow, Giffnock and Edinburgh - were looking at opening a branch in an empty listed building in between John Street and Shore Street.
A planning application was submitted to Inverclyde Council in June last year.
But the proposal looks to have been shelved.
A spokesman for Inverclyde Council said that the applicant has to address certain issues before the plan can be progressed.
He said: "There are a number of outstanding administrative and technical matters that the applicant needs to address before the planning application at Shore Street can move forward.
"We have been trying to follow them up with the applicant but it’s been proving difficult to contact him."
It was back in 2017 when the Tele first reported about the plans for the restaurant.
At the time, Gourock based Richard Robb Architects, who are the agents, said that their client's proposal would bring a derelict building back to life.
Planning permission had been sought to carry out remedial repair work to the tenement building and its bay windows and restore it to a sound condition.
The Tele contacted BRGR and Richard Robb Architects but they declined to comment.
