IT'S a hard-knock life for some but not for these stage-struck youngsters who enjoyed the fabulous songs of Annie.

Hullabaloo Children's Musical Theatre Workshops ran special classes featuring the classic at the Loreto Club for kids aged between five and seven.

Dancing queens aged eight and upwards meanwhile had a ball with the feel-good Abba anthems from Mamma Mia before everything was rounded off with a show at the end of the week-long programme.

The fun drama holiday sessions proved to be a smash hit with the pint-size performers.

Hullabaloo is led by director Ashley Smith, Donald Campbell, the musical director, and Emma Stephens, a choreographer.

Ashley said: "The purpose of the workshops was to give children an introduction to musical theatre, build confidence and learn skills needed for performing on stage.

"It was also an opportunity for them to make new friends.

"The children all had a great week and it was nice to see so many parents attending their showcase at the end of the week to support them."

Ashley was swift to praise the children's commitment.

She said: "All the children who attended are future stars.

"They were so full of enthusiasm and grew in confidence over the week.

"They really surprise you in what they can learn over a week, they take so much in."

The Annie workshops were aimed at children between 5 and 7 and Mamma Mia for eight years and over.

The next round of workshops will be running during the summer holidays, from July 29 and August 2, and the themes will be Matilda and Greatest Showmen.
