IT was a family affair at Grosvenor Bowling Club as players took to the green for the annual open day.

President Frank Wilson was joined by four of his brothers, including his twin Andy, a past president of the club.

Before the action got under way, Frank and his wife June were introduced alongside the Greenock & District president Richard Kennedy as well as the Ladies Section president Christine Reddy, Honorary club president Sandy Reddy and club vice president Steven Whyte.

The all important first jack and the first bowls were then delivered by the president's wife June.

Club secretary John Freeburn said: "After this, junior vice president Chris Banks presented flowers to Mrs Reddy and Mrs Wilson as a token of the club’s appreciation for the part that they had played in the proceedings.

"A gift was presented to Mrs Wilson by Mr Banks from the club.

"The afternoon continued with a Wapenshaw with 14 ends followed by a buffet tea, supplied by the ladies of the club."

The club would like to thank their annual sponsors L&A Motors, Maitland Butchers, PB Wrights, Allen MacDonald, Robbie Moffat and Jim Pollock for their continued support and to all of the kindred clubs who took the time to attend the opening.

The members and directors of Grosvenor would also like to wish the Greenock & District president Richard Kennedy and his committee all the very best for this season, along with every club in the district.
