WARM and loving tributes have been paid to a young dad who passed away suddenly at the age of 25.

Shaun Speirs slipped away in his sleep at his Greenock home last Friday.

Partner Kelly Anne McPherson has been left devastated by the tragic loss of Shaun, who was much-loved partner dad, son, brother and a good friend to all who knew him.

A GoFundMe appeal has now been set up to help pay for his funeral.

Shaun, who was from Port Glasgow, has been described as a 'doting dad' to two-year-old Aura and step-son Kian.

A close family friend said: "He adored his wee girl and Kian was just like a son to him. They were his world."

Shaun was a young, healthy keep-fit fanatic which has made the shock of his death harder to accept for his loved ones.

The young dad was a very popular local figure and had lots of friends in Port Glasgow and Greenock.

His partner and dad Charles and step-mum Lisa are too upset to speak about what has happened.

It has also left his sister Chloe and brother Michael distraught.

His family have given their approval to friends' efforts to help cover the expense of Shaun's funeral.

One friend said: "I think they appreciate that people are rallying around to help to lay him to rest."

Heartfelt messages have poured onto his social media page from devastated friends and family from across Inverclyde.

Many shared photos of the popular father while others posted tributes expressing their grief and sadness.

One wrote: "Gone before your time you must be needed somewhere else."

Another said: " My heart is broken. Best dad ever."

Friends said Shaun and loving partner Kelly-Ann were 'like two peas in a pod' and always together.
