A TEENAGE musician has been crowned among the best singers in the UK.
Euan McDonald, who is a pupil at Notre Dame High in Greenock, was runner-up in the annual Rotary International Great Britain and Ireland 'Young Musician' competition.
The 17-year-old was second in the singing category having rushed on Friday having rushed from his advanced higher music recital straight to the airport to make the the showpiece event in Essex.
The S6 pupil booked his place in the final having won the local event, organised by the Rotary Club of Gourock, before succeeding at the district and regional contests.
He also plays the cello and piano.
Boyd Thomson, president of Gourock Rotary, said: "We are proud to have supported Euan, who has a tremendous talent. "This reflects the talent and teaching in Inverclyde, which now proudly has three national runners-up in five years in this competition, one which Gourock Rotary has been more than happy to sponsor."
Euan is now preparing to join the prestigious Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
