A MUM'S agonising nine month wait to see a spine specialist is over after the Tele highlighted the issue.

Selina Hendry, 38, cannot leave her home in Greenock after being diagnosed with debilitating scoliosis and degenerative arthritis.

It has left her in crippling pain and struggling to walk.

Earlier this month, the mum-of-two from Aberfoyle Road said she was at her wits end after being told she would face 42-week wait to see an expert.

Now, after the Tele took Selina's case to the health board, she has finally been given a hospital appointment.

Her father John Hendry, who has been fighting her corner, said: "I received a call from Selina, crying in happiness saying that she has been given an appointment at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Glasgow for an X-ray on Monday June 3.

"She's over-the-moon, as that is the ball rolling.

"It's thanks to the hard work and the effort of the Tele in highlighting this.

"The story absolutely made a difference.

"It's amazing what the Tele can do."

In response to our previous story about Selina's wait, health bosses at NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde apologised to Selina.

They confirmed that a number of patients awaiting orthopaedic treatment were waiting longer than they would like.

They have put additional clinics on to deal with the delays.

Some patients are being sent to the private sector to reduce waiting times.
