IT was 'par-tee' time at Gourock Golf Club as celebrities got in the swing to raise money for charity.

A host of famous faces such as TV presenter Gail Porter and football stars Rab Douglas, Andy Goram, Jim McAlister, Gary Harkins and Sean Crighton teed off at the annual Creditfix Charity Golf Day on Monday.

Organised by Greenock man Danny Knox and hosted by insolvency firms Creditfix and Carrington Dean, the event was aid of the homelessness charity Shelter and the Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity.

Former Celtic and Scotland 'keeper Douglas said he was happy to support such a great charity event.

He said: "I golf with Danny so it's always good to help raise money for charity.

"It's great to see the number of people who are willing to turn up and support it.

"This is a great event - it doesn't happen overnight, a lot of planning goes into it so you have to give credit to Danny."

TV presenter Gail was also thrilled to support the event despite admitting that she is a 'terrible' golfer and praised the picturesque course and its spectacular views.

She told the Tele: "The golf course is so beautiful.

"I've been out putting with some of the wee ones who are here.

"It's great fun being here for the charity."

Morton youth academy coach Crighton, from Port Glasgow, who plays for Airdrie United, was keen to prove his golfing credentials.

He said: "It was great to be invited along to this as it's for a very good cause."

Gourock professional Derek Watters was relieved that the rain stayed off for the event.

He said: "Gourock Golf Club are delighted to host the Creditfix Golf Day again this year.

"The golf course is in wonderful condition and the weather has turned out well."

The money raised on the day is still being counted, but Danny is keen to thank everyone who helped.

He said: "The turnout was excellent, we had 90 players here which is great.

"I'd like to thank everybody who came along and hopefully we've made lots of money for charity."
