A MAN suffered head and facial injuries after being attacked in Greenock last night.
The victim, 30, was set upon with a weapon within a property in Morton Terrace at 10pm.
He was taken to Inverclyde Royal Hospital by ambulance where he was treated for his injuries and later released.
Detective Sergeant Stuart Young, of Greenock CID, said: "A 30-year-old male was assaulted with a weapon within an associate's house in Morton Terrace.
"We are following a positive line of inquiry but are appealing for witnesses who may have heard a disturbance within the house.
"We are examining CCTV and carrying out door to door inquiries."
