THE sun shone for pupils and staff at Lady Alice Primary as they celebrated their sports day.

Organised by teacher Jim Crawford and team along with support from Active Schools, the day was staged at nearby Notre Dame and saw pupils and parents compete in a number of events.

The flat race proved competitive, concentration was the aim of the game with the egg and spoon race and crowds cheered for those taking part in the sack race.

Mums and dads turned out to support the pupils from primary one to seven and also got involved in the festivities themselves by entering the parents' race.

Depute head teacher Lesley Caldwell said: “Everyone had a brilliant day.

"We were really lucky with the weather.

“We are very lucky that we have a good relationship with Notre Dame High School who let us use the pitch.

“We had a great turnout of parents and family members and everyone had a great time.

“Everyone was competitive and did their best, it was a successful event.

“I'd like to thank Mr Crawford and his team and Active Schools for organising it.”
