EDDIE Cairney claimed that Margaret Fleming’s grandfather branded her a ‘freak and a monster’ and never wanted to see her again.
He said he was later accused of ‘starving’ Margaret which prompted a visit to a GP but he insisted he only ever worked to get her fit.
Cairney told the court: “When we met her she was obese.
“I started her on bicycle training and I bought her a rowing machine for £1,600.
“She lived on pizzas and pasta.
“We fed her what we were feeding.
“Her weight tumbled.”
