GIRL power helped to raise thousands of pounds for Ardgowan Hospice as ladies dressed to impress for the most stylish social event of the year.

Fizz and fun was the order of the day at The Chartroom at Kip Marina as glamorous guests gathered for the annual hospice's Ladies Day.

The glittering event raised over £24,000 - which could fund 41 nights of specialist in-patient care and support for a patient diagnosed with a life limiting illness.

Linda McEnhill, hospice chief executive, said: "On behalf of all the patients, family members, carers, volunteers and staff, I must thank everyone who supported this year’s event to make it another successful day of fundraising.

“From our sponsors, VA Business Solutions to our auction, raffle and prize donors, the hospice is indebted to your continued support.

“The £24,716 could fund 41 nights of specialist in-patient care and support for a patient diagnosed with a life limiting illness."

Ladies enjoyed a five star experience in the marina's beautiful marquee as they were treated to a mouthwatering two course lunch.

Afterwards, radio presenter Gina McKie hosted the live auction with lots of luxury prizes up for grabs including a pair VIP tickets to see Jack Whitehall at The Hydro.

Lucky ladies then took home prizes in the raffle and browsed round market stalls before tribute band 'Could it Be Take That' took to the stage.

When the live entertainment was over, the party atmosphere continued with a set from local DJ Kevin Hoodless who kept the ladies dancing until the early evening.

The hospice is keen to thank everyone who came along to the Ladies Day as well as all the sponsors and those who donated raffle prizes.

The next event in the hospice's fundraising event calendar is the Girls’ Night Out at Greenock Town Hall on Friday 27 September, featuring Edward Reid.

Tickets go on sale at the end of June.
