A CAR was deliberately torched in a targeted attack on Murdieston Street in Greenock in the early hours of this morning.
A man wearing a dark hooded top with writing on its sleeves, and carrying what is believed to be a petrol cannister, was seen walking towards the white Volkswagen Polo at 1.15am.
Detective Inspector David Wagstaff, of Greenock CID, said: "The interior of the vehicle was extensively damaged.
"Fire crews attended and extinguished the blaze and the car was later removed from the area."
It is understood that the suspect was seen walking back up Murdieston Street following the attack and turning left into Prospecthill Street.
DI Wagstaff said: "Anyone who can help with inquiries should contact us on the 101 number, or anonymously on Crimestoppers 0800 555 111."
