EMERGENCY services attended the sea front in Seaton Carew this morning after the body of a man was found on a beach.
Residents reported seeing officers from Cleveland Police and paramedics on The Front at about 7am on Wednesday morning.
Officers were also seen searching the rocks, according to residents living nearby.
A formal identification process is underway and a post mortem will take place.
A spokesperson for Cleveland Police said: "Police were called to a report of the body of a man found at Seaton Carew beach at 6.20am this morning, Wednesday June 26.
"A formal identification process is underway and a post mortem will take place.
"Officers would appeal to any members of the public who may have been walking on the beach or the surrounding area and who may have found any items of clothing to contact them."
