A CHARITY champion has been honoured for her role in a record-breaking Greenock Rotary appeal.

Jennifer Boag was presented with the endeavour award from club president Finlay Sim for going above and beyond for the Smalls for All campaign.

Greenock Rotary collected a record 5,463 pairs of underpants for the charity, which collects and distributes them to help women and children in Africa and the UK.

Not only did Jennifer help with the appeal, she also stored the garments in her spare room along with other club materials.

She said: "I wasn't expecting to get this.

"I'm very pleased."

The presentation of the endeavour award shield was made by Greenock Rotary president, Finlay Sim, in one of his last duties before handing over the reins to Ann Thomson.

He said: "Jennifer became assistant treasurer and also helped us with our most successful Smalls for All appeal this year.

"We collected 5,463 pairs of new underwear for the charity and Jennifer kindly stored most of them in her house.

"In fact, she provided a storage facility for a lot of our stuff, such as high-vis vests and banners."
