AN inspirational 87-year-old woman who is fighting fit after suffering a health scare has opened a new charity shop in Kilmacolm.

Elizabeth Ramsay was given the honour of cutting the ribbon at the new Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland boutique in St James Terrace.

It was a special moment for Elizabeth, as the charity supported her greatly following an angina attack.

Since then she has been attending one of its fitness groups for almost 20 years.

Elizabeth says that the group helps her stay active and live life to the full.

She told the Tele: “It’s great that Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland’s shop is now in Kilmacolm.

"They do so much important work to help people live life to the full.

“I’ve been going to their exercise group for 18 years and I love it.

"When I had my angina attack the doctors told me that I needed to get out and be active.

"The group has really helped me do that.

“Having a heart problem is scary but I feel lucky to be surrounded by wonderful family and great people in the group who help keep me feeling happy and healthy.”

Laura Brown, Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland assistant shop manager, is confident that the new boutique will be a big hit in the village.

She said: “We’re so excited about opening our new boutique shop in Kilmacolm.

“Our boutiques offer a whole new charity shop experience.

"Our customers are guaranteed to find the shop packed full of hidden gems and stylish outfits.

"We have already received a lot of interest from locals and are looking forward to welcoming everyone through the door.

"All the money raised in Scotland stays in Scotland and helps make a real difference to people’s lives.

"With your help, we can make sure there is no life half-lived for anyone affected by chest, heart or stroke conditions locally.”
