KIDS are keeping cool this summer at a Greenock leisure centre.

Children got their skates on and headed to the Waterfront Leisure Complex to take to the ice.

They are enjoying the centre's Learn to Skate summer courses.

Kayleigh Munro, who runs the sessions, says it's great to see so many youngsters take to the ice.

She said: "The children are learning how to skate for the first time.

"They are having fun and we do a wee test at the end of the week so they can achieve their level one qualification.

"Then hopefully they've caught the bug and will carry on skating."

With the classes proving popular, Kayleigh hopes the lessons will inspire a future generation of ice skaters.

She said: "I'm sure the majority of children who have taken part in the course will continue to ice skate."

The Learn to Skate summer courses are on from Monday to Friday at 10am and they run right up until August 2.
