FRIENDS of a Gourock graduate who tragically died after a suspected asthma attack paid tribute with a charity football match in his memory.

Kieran Cameron was only 22 when he passed away in October after collapsing following complaints of feeling unwell.

Kieran was keen on keeping fit and had run a 10k and enjoyed going to the gym, which made his sudden death at such a young age even harder to bear for his loved ones and many friends.

The chemical engineering graduate had just completed his Masters degree and was set to go on to study for a doctorate.

Kieran also worked part-time in Cleats and was popular with staff and customers.

Bar manager Scott McBride said: "Kieran worked at Cleats for three years and was really well known and well-liked in the town.

"The charity match had been something we've been trying to organise for a while and we thought it would be best to do it in the summer.

"We decided to raise funds for Asthma UK in Kieran's memory."

"It was a great day and a great turnout.

"Donations are still pouring in and we are trying to count up online donations.

"It was a great day, we couldn't have asked for better weather."

Scott's Cleats team won 5-2 against Blackthorn Rovers' Saturday side at Battery Park.

Kieran's sister Colette, 24, collected her brother's degree from the University of the West of Scotland in a private ceremony earlier this year.

She was delighted that the match held in her brother's memory was so successful and helped raised a four figure sum.

Colette, who works in marketing and sales, said: "It's such a good way to raise awareness.

"Three people in Britain die every day from asthma.

"People don't realise how serious the condition can be.

"Kieran was working at Cleats and on his way home when he had the asthma attack.

"It was totally unexpected."
