GIRLS are invited to put their gladrags on and help raise money for Ardgowan Hospice.

The red carpet will be rolled out at Greenock Town Hall for its glittering 'Girls' Night Out' event next month.

Britain's Got Talent star Edward Reid says he can't wait to host the stylish soiree on Friday September 27.

He told the Tele: "I love coming to Greenock.

"I know lots of people here as I've done quite a few hospice events now - I feel like I'm coming back to see my pals!

"The girls are always up for it as the dancefloor is usually full before the dinner.

"It's going to be a great night."

Edward says he is inspired by the work of the staff, volunteers and the countless fundraisers who go above and beyond to support the facility.

He said: "The work that they do at the hospice is brilliant.

"It is a huge part of the community.

"Whether it's cancer or any other terminal illness, they are there for people when they are at their most vulnerable.

"Putting events on like this is a fun way to raise money for the hospice.

"It's a bit of contrast to what the hospice is set up for but I think getting glammed up and having fun is a great source of therapy.

"I know one woman who has lost her daughter who always goes along and she really inspires me.

"She has been through a lot but she gets up, puts on her makeup and comes along to all these events."

Alex Mula, from the fundraising team at Ardgowan Hospice, says people should snap up their tickets quickly to avoid disappointment.

He said: "It's going to be a great night and we will have an interactive video wall.

"We are so grateful for Edward Reid's support."

A very limited amount of tables are still available for the event by calling 726830.
