A TALENTED young Greenock dancer has proved she is in a class of her own after winning a major competition.

Sara Casement was ecstatic to win the ClassForKids competition - a UK wide contest where kids from across the country send in videos of their dance routines.

The little five-year-old, who attends Whinhill Primary, wowed the judging panel to win first place.

Her parents Kelly-Anne and Craig, of Regent Street, said they are so proud of their little 'dancing diva'.

She said: "Sara is absolutely buzzing.

"I can’t believe out of lots of entries around the UK my little dancing diva got picked as the winner.

"Words can’t describe how proud I am."

Craig added: "We are so proud of her.

"She's been dancing for just over a year.

"We have seen her confidence grow, especially when she goes to competitions."

Sara, who also has a sister Zoe, three, and a 10-year-old brother Craig, is a pupil at Lauren Hair's Pointe Perfect in Greenock.

Her mum told the Tele: "I would like to say a big thank you to Lauren for making Sara the little dancer she is today.”

Little Sara says she was 'so excited' after winning.

She added: "I love dancing and I really like my teacher Lauren.

"She's amazing."

Lauren said Sara who competes in both lyrical and freestyle dance, is a joy to teach.

She said: "She did so well, especially as she was one of the youngest in the whole competition.

"Sara is great to teach and works really hard."

Entries were submitted from all over the UK for the contest but it was Sara who wowed judges Andy Giblin and Calum Kelly.

Professional ballet dancer Andy said: “Sara completely won us over, she told a fantastic story with her dance.”

Sara was awarded a trophy and certificate plus £200 worth of dancewear.

The dance school was also awarded a £300 dancewear voucher.

Nikki Th’ng, the chief executive of ClassForKids, said: “Dance schools work so hard to bring out the best in each and every pupil, so it’s great to see that Lauren has helped develop Sara’s incredible natural talent."
