THERE was all the fun of the fete at Lady Alice Bowling Club in Greenock.

Youngsters enjoyed bowling games with their parents and grandparents as members flocked to the club for a gala day.

There was also a host of stalls plus a wheel of fortune game and refreshments.

Match secretary Peter Boyle said the event was a great success.

He told the Telegraph: "There was a good crowd, about 300 people over the course of the day

"We asked some shops in the town to take up stalls in exchange for a donation.

"It's a family day out and a good way to showcase the club."

The get-together is usually held every summer to raise funds for the club but it skipped a year last year .

Organisers are still counting up how much was raised.

Money collected will go towards the refurbishment of the clubhouse as the committee look towards the future and attracting a new generation.

Peter said: "There was a good turnout from the junior section, parents and grandparents, members and invited guests.

"I think it's important to encourage youngsters - bowls used to be thought of as an old man's sport but things have changed over the years and we have a good junior section."
