DETECTIVES are hunting an armed robber who held up a Greenock shop.
The shocking incident happened at the U Save store in Belville Street at 3.15pm yesterday afternoon.
Detective Sergeant Stuart Young of Greenock CID said the robber fled with a two figure sum of money.
He said: “Two shopkeepers were in the shop at the time when a male presented a weapon and demanded money.
“On receipt of a two figure sum, the male made off on foot in the direction of the flats in Belville Street.
“He is described as wearing dark coloured clothing.”
Police officers have been carrying out door-to-door enquiries and have been checking CCTV.
DS Young added: “I would appeal for any witnesses to come forward, particularly anyone who saw a man acting suspiciously beforehand.”
