OAK Tree Housing Association has marked a busy year of £25m worth of investment in local homes.

The first project, worth £24m, was part of a new build programme in Greenock's Auchmead Road.

Tenants and members at the group's annual general meeting in the Tontine Hotel also heard how a further £1m was ploughed into upgrading existing properties, with new heating systems, kitchens and bathrooms installed.

Chairperson Colin Campbell said: “We were delighted to report such a successful year for Oak Tree, which concluded with our £24m new build development programme getting under way with a site start on the first project.

“This and another three additional projects to be rolled out over the next few years, puts in place a significant development programme that will deliver 191 new high-quality, energy-efficient homes across four locations in Greenock."

"It will also mean an enhanced social housing portfolio for us, bringing our total stock to nearly 2,000 properties."

A busy year also included the purchase of a new HQ in West Stewart Street, at the former registry office.

The association says this will give them flexibility for future expansion and the ability to rent out space, creating a revenue stream.

They will move in to their new base early in the new year.

During the year, an online portal was launched so that people can report repairs, check their account, pay rent and make changes to their tenancy from the comfort of their own home.

The association's annual general meeting, pictured, also heard how it disbursed the £37,000 Our Community, Our Future fund, with 11 local projects covering health, wellbeing and youth initiatives, all benefiting.

Mr Campbell said: “It’s all part of our continuing drive to identify key development opportunities that can help us improve the lives of our tenants and wellbeing of our communities, while delivering on the strategic housing objectives for Inverclyde."
