A GREENOCK couple have double cause for celebration after winning the Tele's £5,000 wedding competition - and finding out they're expecting twins.

Lisa Peacock and her fiancé Stuart McNab are ecstatic after they clinched a plush package at The Gailes Hotel in Irvine.

The devoted couple, who stay in Belville Street, say it is the icing on the cake after finding out the wonderful news that Lisa, is expecting in February.

Lisa told the Tele: "I burst into tears when I got the call to say I'd won.

"I never win anything so it was such a nice surprise.

"We are the love of each other's lives and can't wait to get married."

Lisa, 37, who works as a home carer in Renfrewshire, and Stuart, 35, a lorry driver, met through Lisa's brother Alan.

She said: "Stuart works with my brother Alan.

"I had commented on a photo on Facebook and after that we got chatting.

"We then went on a few dates."

Lisa, who has two daughters Aimee, 20, and Lauren, 15, from a previous relationship and nine-month-old son Jack with her fiancé, hope to say 'I do' in July next year.

She said: "Winning the competition is a huge help.

"Just a few months after I got engaged in December 2017 I became pregnant with Jack so we put the wedding on hold and then we found out we're expecting twins.

"It's great to win as we can get married now."

The couple are keen to thank everyone who voted for them in the competition.

Lisa said: "We're so grateful.

"I think all our family and friends were voting.

"My mother-in-law Irene works in catering at the IRH so she was getting all her work colleagues to vote too."

The lucky couple have won a £5k wedding at the The Gailes Hotel in Irvine which includes a spectacular rooftop terrace for the ceremony, a Master of Ceremonies, three course wedding meal for 50 guests plus a drinks package, an evening buffet for 50 guests and the Arran Penthouse Honeymoon Suite for the couple on the night of their wedding.

In addition, they will have personalised menus, personalised table plan, stylish chair covers, candelabra centrepieces and table linen and napkins.

Tele editor Brian Hossack said: "We would like to congratulate Lisa and Stuart on winning this year's wedding competition.

"Our generous sponsors from The Gailes Hotel put up a wonderful prize package and we were quickly inundated with entries.

"We'd like to thank The Gailes Hotel and everyone who took part in the competition and voted, and we wish Lisa and Stuart all the best planning their big day."
