GREENOCK actor Martin Compston says he can't wait to be able to speak in his native tongue as he gets set to return to our screens in a new BBC drama.

The Nest tells the story of wealthy couple Dan (Martin) and Emily, played by Peaky Blinders actress Sophie Rundle, who live in a fabulous house on the outskirts in Glasgow.

They are desperate for a child and after years of trying to conceive, they enter into a pact with wayward teenager Kaya (Mirren Mack), who agrees to be a surrogate.

Martin was spotted preparing for a scene alongside co-star David Hayman in Glasgow earlier this week as shooting got under way and is looking forward to not having to adopt the London accent used in Line of Duty.

He said: "I'm chuffed to bits to part of this. Drama is drama wherever it is but to be part these incredible scripts set in Glasgow, and be filming in Glasgow with this amazing cast and written be one of our finest, is fantastic.

"Writter Nicole Taylor is one of the most exciting and original voices in writing today. Going back onto BBC One in my native west coast accent makes it a dream scenario."
