ENERGETIC youngsters from a Gourock school jumped for joy at a sponsored skip-a-thon.
Children at St Ninian's Primary were 'roped in' to the challenge in aid of school funds to celebrate St Ninian's Day.
After their skipping success, the children then enjoyed a visit to an ice cream van which parked in the playground to serve up tasty cones.
Head teacher Lesley McCabe said: "The sponsored skip is for school funds and every child takes part in it.
"We decided to do it to mark St Ninian's Day.
"In the morning the children attended mass and Father Gerry McNellis provided ice cream for all the children.
"They enjoyed a day of celebration.
"There was a lovely atmosphere."
The celebration day also provided a good learning opportunity for the kids.
Mrs McCabe said: "The children measured their heart rates when they were skipping and were counting the number of skips they achieved."
Pupil Jay Richmond said he had a great time on the ropes.
The 10-year-old, a P6 pupil, said: "We've learned so much about St Ninian.
"It's been such a fun day."
