DETECTIVES are following new lines of inquiry into the murder of Christopher Nicol after re-visiting the scene of his brutal killing.
Officers returned to Maple Road to speak to people exactly one week on from the 27-year-old Greenock dad's death.
The hour-long exercise saw them stop seven vehicles and speak to six passers-by.
Detective Chief Inspector Martin Fergus, of the Major Investigation Team (West), said: "We re-visited the scene around the time Christopher died in order to speak to people who might've been in the area at the same time last week.
"Some lines of inquiry have been established from this and the response was positive.
"However we are still urging people to come forward.
"I still believe the answer to this murder lies in the local community and I am in no doubt there are people out there who have vital information.
"No matter how insignificant you think the information is, speak to us and let us decide how important it is."
Anyone with information should contact police via 101 or anonymously call Crimestopppers on 0800 555 111.
