A BONNIE braveheart dancer showed some fancy footwork to win four prizes at a top competition.

Five-year-old Ella Quigg only started highland dancing at the start of the year and is already collecting lots of medals.

The youngster, a pupil at May Hughes School of Dance, is a natural performer.

Her proud mum Michelle said: "She won four gold medals in all four dances at the primary section at the Dunoon Annual Festival.

"This was for the pas de basque, high cuts, fling and sword dance.

"It was the first time she had danced the swords and we're so proud of her.

"She only started in January and started competing at the Gourock Highland Games in May."

The youngster has taken part in 14 competitions so far says she loves performing.

Mum Michelle, 36, said: "She loves to show off and for people to watch her.

"She's quite confident.

"She's a natural dancer and she seems to have just taken to it."

Dance teacher May believes Ella has huge potential.

She said: "We were delighted when she won four firsts doing her sword dance for the first time.

"Considering Ella has only been dancing since January, it is some achievement."

Ella who attends St Andrew's Primary, attends classes twice a week and also attends tap and disco lessons.

Michelle, who lives with Ella, husband Robert, son Jai, seven, and one-year-old daughter Thea in Gourock, said: "She's out dancing four times a week.

"It nice having her doing something like this instead of playing on computers.

"I love watching her dance as I was a highland dancer when I was little, so it's like re-living my youth."
