A MUM from Port Glasgow was on target at Cappielow after winning a huge £10,000 lotto jackpot.

Janice O'Donnell struck gold in the Morton Lottery.

The win completed a memorable hat-trick for Janice, who celebrated her silver wedding anniversary and her son's 21st birthday the week before the draw.

Her numbers were picked out by Morton first team star and reserves manager John Sutton.

Janice, 53, said: "I was shocked because I hadn't won a thing in my puff.

"It was a nice surprise."

Delighted Janice pocketed £10,500 in total - one of the biggest Morton Lottery wins - and it rounded off a busy period in which she celebrated her milestone anniversary with husband Paul, 52, followed by the 21st birthday of eldest child Stuart.

She said: "It's been a mad, crazy couple of weeks."

The couple, who are from Port Glasgow, live in Gibshill and have another son, Scott, who is 18.

The winning lottery numbers were 4, 9, 14 and 19, representing her boys' birthday months and the date of her wedding anniversary and her own birthday.

Janice works at Greenock Tesco and buys tickets from colleague James Crawford, who also bagged £1,000.

But the winning vendor had a bit of fun with his winning workmate by telling her she scooped almost £18 in total instead of the five-figure jackpot.

Janice said: "James is a bit of a character.

"I had two tickets come up, I'd been buying extra tickets you see.

"He came over and said I'd won £17 or something and I said, 'fantastic, I haven't won anything before'.

"But that was on just one ticket and the other was the big one.

"It took a while to sink in when I found out.

"I was really pleased for James because he's been doing the Morton Lottery in work for five years and this is the first time he's had a big winner. "It's lovely because he gets 10 per cent, which is £1,000 for him too."

Janice says she plays the game to support the club.

Lesley Ann Webb, Morton commercial manager and lottery co-ordinator, said: "We're delighted for Janice. "She's been playing since the beginning and we were really pleased when John Sutton picked out her numbers. "We hope she enjoys her winnings."
