A GREENOCK schoolboy is celebrating after becoming a champion Muay Thai fighter thanks to the help of his dad's coaching.

Pint-sized Noah Waddell used all his guile to take out his opponent at a major show in Fife.

He trains at a marital arts gym set up by his dad Mark.

The base in Campbell Street aims to include children of all ages and abilities and it has made terrific strides since being established in 2018.

Noah, ten, who claimed his recent title with a fourth round victory, said: "I was so happy to win my fight.

"It was hard work.

"I love all my training.

"It keeps me fit and healthy."

His dad Mark opened Colosseum Martial Arts gym last year with the aim of offering facilities for children with additional support needs.

He has three sons, Jonah, 11, as well as twin boys Noah and Kody, who is on the autistic spectrum.

All three benefit from Muay Thai with both Jonah and Noah competing in shows.

At a recent competition Noah was representing the Grip House gym in Glasgow where he also trains.

His dad Mark, who was also a champion fighter, said: "He has more skills than I ever had at his age.

"I was so proud of him, he did so well.

"He won in the fourth round when it was stopped."

Previously both Jonah and Noah claimed silver medals in a Scottish Invitational event.

Mark says his gym has made a big impact since he set it up last year.

He told the Tele: "We have children with additional support needs training together with other youngsters and their parents say they can see a difference.

"I also want to give anti-bullying strategies for all children who come here, to give them confidence."
