A GOUROCK councillor has slammed housing bosses for turning their back on tenants in a blaze-damaged block.

Councillor Lynne Quinn has strongly criticised River Clyde Homes after they failed to keep their promise of replacing a close door ten months ago.

She says residents living in the close on Tower Drive now feel that they have been let down once again, after it took two years for the association to fix their fire-damaged close following the blaze back in 2016.

Councillor Quinn said: "The door was meant to be replaced at the end of January this year.

"This is now three years after the fire.

"I contacted RCH and all I got was a long list of excuses.

"It was meant to be done April/May and then one of the residents contacted me recently saying the door hadn't been fixed.

"I gave them 48 hours last week to do it and they never came back to me."

The councillor says that the close door is constantly being kicked in by yobs and needs to be replaced.

Councillor Quinn said: "It is unacceptable.

"Residents are concerned about security after the fire.

"It shouldn't be necessary that residents are forced to come back to me.

"In my world, you make a promise, you make a date to do something and you keep it.

"People shouldn't have to come to me to shame RCH in the Telegraph.

"They are neglecting their duties as a landlord and as a factor in several properties - the speed in which they are dealing with things and the lack of repairs.

"They couldn't care less."

The Tele contacted RCH about the delay and officials say it is down to owners in the block.

A spokesperson said: “A ballot of owners who live in the block was undertaken when the works were proposed and a majority voted in favour of a new door entry system being installed.

"An invoice and update is being prepared for owners and works will commence once owners contributions are received."
