CHARITY champ runner Tommy the Clown Armstrong was stunned after an intruder evading the police was spotted on his property.

Tommy today thanked his neighbours for looking out for him after the man was arrested at his address in Stafford Road in Larkfield.

Police say that the 28-year-old man ran from police and was being pursued through gardens before being apprehended for drug offences.

Officers say that the drugs have not yet been formally analysed but they are believed to be small quantities of cannabis and cocaine plus white tablets.

It is believed the suspect was trying to find somewhere to hide when he was apprehended.

Tommy said: “It was one of my neighbours who told me.

“My house already has CCTV so anyone who tries to enter will be caught.

“It is nice to know my neighbours are looking out for me.

"They know what I do and are great at keeping an eye out.

“I am thankful someone called the police and that the person was caught.

“I just want people to know that I don’t keep anything of value in the house.”

Following the scare Tommy is now considering adding extra security measures to his doors.

He said: “I used to keep the veranda open to let people drop off cuddly toys for my charity work but I won’t be doing that anymore.

"And I have also bought bolts to put on the doors.”
