A DRAMATIC rescue was carried out by emergency service workers in a Glasgow park after a man got into difficulty near water.

The 36-year-old man was stuck on a rocky embankment near the river within Linn Park in Cathcart on Thursday afternoon.

Police, fire, and ambulance were called and a rescue operation was launched.

He was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. 

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "Police were called to Linn Park, Cathcart, Glasgow, around 4.50 pm on Thursday, December 5 to assist a 36-year-old man who had got into difficulty on a rocky embankment near the river within the park. 

!Police, assisted by the force helicopter, located the man and he was rescued by Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and then taken by ambulance to the QUEH and left in the care of NHS Greater Glasgow.

"Advice and assistance given, no further police action."
