THE search for man who went missing from a boat in the River Clyde last night has been called off.
Following a report of two boats in distress last night in the Cardwell Bay area of Gourock, a major search was launched.
HM Coastguard together with the RNLI, Police Scotland and other local resources responded and two men, aged 33 and 36, were rescued but one man, aged 55, still remains unaccounted for.
Overnight and again today the emergency services continued to carry out an extensive search of both shorelines in the area up towards the Erskine Bridge but the missing man has not been found.
A spokesperson for the Maritime and Coastguard Agency said: "The decision has been taken to terminate the search pending any further information.
"Our thoughts are with the family at this time."
