HAIR-OIC health staff have helped to change the face of men's health and wellbeing.

Alan Brown, a service manager for assessment and care management at the Inverclyde Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP), inspired his colleagues to join him in growing facial hair throughout the month of November to raise awareness of men's health issues, such as anxiety, prostate cancer, testicular cancer and suicide.

Women on the team, based in Hector McNeil House in Clyde Square, also lent their support by proudly wearing special stick-on moustaches.

To celebrate the end of the challenge, Alan held a fundraising 'Movember Moustache' tombola which resulted in him getting his 'tache dyed in the colours of the Inverclyde Carers Centre.

Alan said: "The whole point is to try to raise awareness and understanding.

"The money raised will go to the Movember charity.

"Its been great to get the team involved, the women also joined in by wearing false moustaches."

Alan and his colleagues raised over £1,000 for the charity through the initiative and a variety of other fundraising activities.

Lorna MacDonald, manager of the Inverclyde Carers' Centre, was keen to support Alan's efforts.

She said: "Alan has been a great supporter of the centre and we wanted to try and repay him.

"I think what he has done is great as he's shown that the staff who work in the public sector are people too with families.

"It's brilliant when public sector staff do stuff like this."

Alan is keen to thank everyone for their support, especially the staff at Harbour Barbours for dying his moustache.

He added: "I would like to thank everyone who has got behind our efforts.

"Even when I've been walking down the street, people have been smiling and laughing at my moustache. It's been great - and all for a good cause."
