CHRISTMAS jumpers, Santa hats and festive fun were the order of the day at the Old Gourock and Ashton Church Christmas fayre.

Families flocked to the annual event and raised £2,500.

There were stalls galore while children had the chance to be an elf for the day.

Session clerk Jim Hempsey said: "It went very well and it was very busy.

"There were lots of stalls, a tombola, bottle and book stall and a superb array of items items that the craft group had made, from knitwear to Christmas cards.

"There was also a 'knock the elf off a shelf' game and guess the weight of the Christmas cake.

"There was also a room where children could work like Santa's elves and enjoy Christmas activities."

Kind donations were put together to produce 30 food hampers for sale and there was also a chance to tuck into some home-made baking in the tea room.

Mr Hempsey said: "We are delighted with the amount raised.

"I would like to thank everyone who came along and to everyone who helped make the day such a success."
